Jurupa Valley, CA (June 26, 2025)—At last night’s City Council meeting, the City of Eastvale presented the Jurupa Community Services District (JCSD) with a proclamation in recognition of its exceptional parks and recreation services in honor of National Park and Recreation Month. This proclamation highlights the strong partnership between the City and JCSD and affirms their shared commitment to enhancing the quality of life through parks and recreational programming.

The recognition coincides with the 40th anniversary of National Park and Recreation Month, a nationwide observance that celebrates the important role of local parks in building healthy, connected, and resilient communities. For more than two decades, JCSD has been the main provider of parks and recreation services in Eastvale, delivering award-winning services, state-of-the-art facilities, signature events, and diverse recreational opportunities for all ages.

JCSD first began planning parks and recreation services in 1996, collaborating with the County of Riverside to develop the Comprehensive Parks & Recreation Plan for the growing Eastvale area, and by 2003, JCSD formally assumed operational responsibility for parks and recreation services. Since then, JCSD has expanded to manage over 240 acres of parkland, 15 parks, miles of landscaped public frontage, and key facilities like the Eastvale Community Center. In 2021, the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) awarded JCSD reaccreditation with a perfect score for excellence in park management, planning, and operations.

“Parks and recreation services are essential to a strong and vibrant community,” said JCSD Board President Betty Folsom. “We are deeply grateful to the Eastvale City Council for recognizing the dedicated professionals at JCSD, whose work enhances the daily lives of Eastvale residents.”

In 2021, the City of Eastvale established its Community Services division to encourage community development through the planning and execution of additional inclusive, diverse, family-friendly events. Eastvale’s Community Services team works with several partner agencies and community groups to host enriching events. Recently, the City of Eastvale partnered with JCSD and the YMCA to provide swimming lessons over the summer at Eleanor Roosevelt High School.

“JCSD is a valued partner in building a vibrant and active Eastvale,” said Eastvale Mayor Michael McMinn. “Their commitment to excellence in parks and recreation not only enhances our quality of life but strengthens the bonds that make Eastvale such a special place to call home.”

The City’s proclamation serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of local collaboration. During Parks and Recreation Month, residents are encouraged to join the celebration by enjoying a local park, attending a community event, or thanking a parks professional this July.
