Congresswoman Norma Torres Celebrates JCSD’s Innovative Senior Programming at the Desi House

The Congresswoman also visited JCSD’s Summer Camp program, coinciding with Parks & Recreation Month

Jurupa Valley, CA (July 19, 2024) – Congresswoman Norma Torres, who represents California’s 35th Congressional District, recently visited the Jurupa Community Services District (JCSD) to recognize its outstanding and award-winning senior programming. During her visit, Congresswoman Torres toured JCSD’s Desi House, a key site for the award-winning Seniors and Students Program, which was honored by the California Association of Parks & Recreation Districts (CARPD) for Outstanding Innovation.

“I am proud to recognize JCSD’s recent award for its high-quality senior programming from CARPD,” said Congresswoman Torres. “It was great to visit my friends at JCSD during Parks & Recreation Month to celebrate their successes in providing premier parks and recreation services to the Eastvale community.”

In addition to her visit to the Desi House, Congresswoman Torres made the trip to join the vibrant atmosphere of JCSD’s Summer Camp. The camp, known for its exciting “Cosmic Adventures” theme, serves children aged 6-12 and offers a range of activities designed to stimulate creativity, encourage physical activity, and foster lasting friendships among Eastvale’s youth.

“Having Congresswoman Torres join us and see first-hand the impact of our programs is truly inspiring. Her support underscores the significance of our efforts to enhance community engagement and well-being through innovative and inclusive programming,” said Steve Lawson, JCSD’s Director of Parks & Recreation.

The Seniors and Students Program at Desi House and the Summer Camp are just two examples of JCSD’s commitment to serving its community with excellence and creativity. These programs not only provide essential services but also enrich the lives of participants across all age groups.
