Jurupa Valley, CA (November 25, 2025)— Jurupa Community Services District (JCSD) proudly celebrated the graduation of its first Community Academy cohort, recognizing a group of 25 engaged residents from Eastvale and Jurupa Valley. Over six weeks, participants explored the essential services JCSD provides to their communities.
The JCSD Community Academy is a free program offering participants a behind-the-scenes look at the District’s operations. Each week, a different JCSD department showcased its essential service through interactive workshops and demonstrations. Participants gained firsthand insight into JCSD’s core functions, including water resources, treatment, distribution, wastewater collections, parks and recreation, graffiti abatement, governance and financial stewardship. The program also took participants outside of the classroom for hands-on interactions with JCSD’s equipment.
“The Community Academy exemplifies our commitment to transparency, education, and public engagement,” said JCSD Board President Betty Folsom. “By inviting residents behind the scenes, we not only strengthen community trust, but also empower our customers to become knowledgeable ambassadors for the essential services they rely on every day.”
The program concluded with tours of JCSD’s Roger Teagarden Ion Exchange Treatment Plant, Western Riverside County Regional Wastewater Authority’s Treatment Plant, and the Chino Basin Desalter Authority’s (CDA) Chino Basin II Desalter and Concentrate Reduction Facility (CRF), operated by JCSD. At the conclusion of the tours, participants were honored in a graduation luncheon where the JCSD Board of Directors presented certificates of achievement.
JCSD plans to offer the Community Academy again in 2026, inviting more customers the opportunity to learn, engage, and become ambassadors for JCSD in their neighborhoods. For more information about the JCSD Community Academy or to sign up for the next cohort, please visit www.JCSD.us/Academy.
