The County of Riverside, in cooperation with the Jurupa Community Services, City of Jurupa Valley, and Caltrans, has finalized the design of the Jurupa Grade Separation Project. The proposed project grade separates the existing Jurupa Road and Union Pacific Railroad near Van Buren Boulevard in the city of Jurupa Valley and is fully funded through State Senate Bill 132 (SB-132).
A new bridge will support the railroad tracks and be wide enough to accommodate a second track and maintenance road. Jurupa Road will be reconstructed to be an undercrossing to improve vehicular traffic circulation and safety by separating vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians from train traffic. Jurupa Road will be closed to traffic during much of the construction period. The expected construction duration is from July 2021 to June 2023.
Jurupa Community Services District will assist in this partnered project as it impacts areas of the District’s sewer system, water distribution system, and water transmission system.
