Jurupa Valley, CA (January 13, 2025) – Amid the devastating wildfires affecting Southern California, including the tragic fires in Los Angeles, Jurupa Community Services District (JCSD) underscores its longstanding commitment to safeguarding the Eastvale and Jurupa Valley communities through comprehensive fire preparedness and emergency response planning.
JCSD has invested in infrastructure to bolster the community’s fire response, including the construction of the first heli-hydrant in the Inland Empire. These 10,000-gallon tanks are crucial for rapid aerial firefighting, providing quick-fill capabilities that drastically shorten response times during fire emergencies. JCSD plans to build three additional heli-hydrants in Eastvale and Jurupa Valley. Alongside these, JCSD maintains 15 high-capacity reservoirs which are instrumental in managing the increased demand during such crises.
Furthermore, JCSD’s strategic placement of backup power systems guarantees that essential water services remain uninterrupted, even during widespread power outages. This preparation is supported by JCSD’s highly trained, 24/7 on-call staff, who are ready to respond to emergencies at a moment’s notice. Should the need arise, JCSD is also a member of the California Association of Mutual Water Companies, providing for the ability to request mutual aid or assist other agencies dealing with emergencies.
Customers are encouraged to take proactive steps such as creating defensible spaces, assembling emergency kits, and planning for evacuations. These efforts help JCSD’s regional approach to community safety, emphasizing both immediate responses and long-term resilience.
