Jurupa Valley, CA (October 4, 2024) – Jurupa Community Services District (JCSD) lifted a Drinking Water Warning following extensive testing and guidance from the State Water Resources Control Board. The precautionary warning was issued on Friday, September 27, 2024, advising customers to boil water before use due to a positive test for E. coli in a water sample collected before the disinfection process. The warning lasted approximately 24 hours and was limited to two zones primarily located in Jurupa Valley.

JCSD promptly responded to the initial test by implementing safety measures and communication protocols. JCSD activated an Online Response Center providing up-to-date information, initiated a reverse dialer call to approximately 4,600 affected customers, developed an interactive map to help residents verify if they were in the notification zone, and distributed over 3,300 cases of bottled water as an immediate precaution.

“Subsequent water quality tests confirmed the absence of potential contamination, leading the State Water Board and JCSD to lift the warning,” said Arman Tarzi, Manager of Government & Public Affairs. “Notification was triggered by testing before the disinfection process, underscoring our vigilant monitoring system ensuring that customers can be confident in the quality of their water.”

JCSD proudly conducts over 36,000 water quality tests annually to ensure customers receive reliable and quality water. Results for water sample tests for contaminants such as E. coli take 24 hours due to the required incubation period. If a positive test is received on a single sample, water systems like JCSD are required to contact the State Water Board for guidance on potential notification.

Customers can take pride in JCSD’s commitment to maintaining the highest water quality standards, consistently meeting and exceeding state and federal guidelines. This incident was isolated, and JCSD acted promptly to ensure public safety and restore confidence in the water supply.
