Eastvale Councilmember Jocelyn Yow joins JCSD Parks and Recreation Department for Little Library Unveiling

Five Little Libraries in total will be hosted by JCSD.

Jurupa Valley, CA (March 7, 2022) – Eastvale Councilmember and former Mayor Jocelyn Yow joined Jurupa Community Services District (JCSD) to unveil the little library at the Eastvale Community Center. The Little Library Program provides the community with a fun and free book-sharing program.

Councilmember Yow and Madeline Johnson, through Eagle Scout Troop #251G, established the Little Library Program in 2018. Councilmember Yow expanded upon the initial project to increase the number of little libraries throughout the community. Funding for the program is provided by the Eastvale Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, and Eastvale Friends of the Library.

“At JCSD, we are passionate about community relationships and partnerships,” said Jane Anderson, Vice President of the JCSD Board of Directors. “This program exemplifies JCSD’s passion, and we are happy to join with Councilmember Yow in providing this service to the Eastvale community.

In addition to the little library at the Eastvale Community Center, four new little libraries are available at the Harada Neighborhood Center in Harada Heritage Park, Orchard Park, Half Moon Park, and American Heroes Park. The unveiling of the little library at the Eastvale Community Center coincides with National Read Across America Day, which occurred on March 2, 2022.

More than 30 million adults in the United States cannot read or write above a third-grade level. The Eastvale Little Library Program notes that books in the hands of children have a meaningful impact on improving literacy and that the more books there are in or near the home, the more likely a child is to learn and love to read.
