Jurupa Valley, CA (September 19, 2025)—The Jurupa Community Services District (JCSD) has officially begun installing advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) as part of its Water Use Insight Initiative, a major upgrade designed to modernize how water usage is monitored and managed throughout the District’s service area.
Over the coming months, JCSD will replace traditional water meter transmitters with AMI devices that allow for remote, secure, and near real-time meter readings. This new technology will provide customers with greater insight into their daily water use and enable faster leak detection.
Historically, customers receive water use data only once a month through their billing statement. With AMI, water usage information will be available through an online customer portal. This portal will be available when nearly all the meters have been converted and customers receive instructions on how to launch their accounts.
The transition to AMI aligns with JCSD’s long-standing commitment to water efficiency and customer service. By detecting unusual water usage early, AMI helps identify potential leaks and promotes conservation throughout the community.
“Advanced metering is more than a technology upgrade, it’s a service transformation,” said JCSD Board President Betty Folsom. “With AMI, we can better support our customers through early leak detection and data-driven insights that promote long-term water conservation. It’s about delivering smarter, faster, and more reliable service to our community.”
JCSD continues to invest in smart infrastructure to enhance service and reliability for the community.
