Project Overview

The JCSD Regional Recycled Water Project will bring a safe, drought-resilient supply of recycled water to the community for irrigation at parks, schools, golf courses and other large landscaped areas.

By using highly treated wastewater for landscape irrigation instead of drinking water for non-drinking purposes, the project preserves our precious drinking water supplies, supports long-term water reliability and helps maintain community green spaces year-round.

Recycled water is used across California and beyond. It offers a safe and sustainable way to extend water supplies by reserving drinking water for where it is needed most and plays a key role in improving water efficiency and supporting resilient communities.

Construction is now underway to install the purple pipeline. Distribution of the recycled water is expected to begin by late 2026/early 2027. Recycled water will be made available to certain public entities, schools, and businesses that meet the required criteria and are located near the distribution pipeline.
