Customer Benefits from New Drip Irrigation Rebate
This Summer Mr. McGetrick converted a portion of his large backyard from a spray irrigation system to a drip irrigation system. Drip irrigation is a low-pressure watering system that delivers water in a much more controlled manner. Spray irrigation wets the plant and produces runoff. In contrast, drip irrigation releases water in a slow and steady fashion directly to where it is needed with the use of drip emitters. Mr. McGetrick’s new drip irrigation system consists of over 250 feet of blank tubing and emitters, and it is used to irrigate 18 trees. Mr. McGetrick stated, “I finally know how much water my trees are getting, and I am watering evenly.” His property is composed of slopes and flat open areas which made it difficult to irrigate trees with conventional spray heads. Drip irrigation systems prevent distribution of water where it’s not needed or where it encourages weed growth. You can also hide much of the system under a layer of mulch, as long as you keep any part that emits water on top of the mulch to prevent clogging. Drip systems also provide the flexibility to expand as your plants grow and spread. Residents within the Jurupa Community Services District service area are eligible to receive a 50% rebate (up to $200) after the purchase and installation of a drip system.
