RECOGNIZES “WATER IS LIFE’ POSTER CONTEST WINNERS
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (June 13, 2017) – The JCSD Board of Directors recognized student artists from across the District last night at the regularly scheduled Board meeting. The “Water Is Life” poster contest encourages students to create artwork that celebrates the importance of water in our lives. JCSD has participated in the poster contest for 5 years, and over 400 posters were submitted.
Grand Prize winners were selected by a panel of judges, and Community Choice Award winners were selected by District residents at Community Choice Voting Day held on May 6. “The important thing is to keep participating in every area.” said Director “Dickie” Simmons. “We appreciate the time and effort that students put into their artwork and look forward to next year’s contest.”
Eight students from across the District received prizes ranging from movie tickets to an
IPad mini. Teachers of winning students also received a gift card to a school supply store.
The winners in the Honorable Mention category were:
Justin Dobyns – Mira Loma Middle School
Jackie Peng – River Heights Elementary School
Jacob Lafferty – Camino Real Elementary
Jenna Piper – Camino Real Elementary
The Community Choice Award winners were:
Margaret Rosario – Roosevelt High School
Maria Hernandez – Glen Avon Elementary School
The Grand Prize winners were:
Mariah Rosario – Roosevelt High School
Emily Mota – Glen Avon Elementary School
The Grand Prize posters will be entered in the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s “Water Is Life” Calendar contest. If selected, they will be included in the 2018 calendar which is distributed to several thousand customers throughout southern California.
