Residents save over 1 BILLION GALLONS
From June 2016 through February 2017, JCSD residents have saved more than 1,000,000,000 gallons. In June 2016, the State Water Resources Control Board extended mandatory regulations through February 2017 and allowed water suppliers to self-certify their water supply. JCSD calculated that there were sufficient supplies to withstand additional years of drought and voluntarily committed to a 12 percent water conservation standard. As in previous Emergency Regulations, current water-use is compared to the same month in 2013. “In the nine month period of the extended Emergency Regulations, JCSD residents have exceeded the 12 percent voluntary conservation target seven times, including through one of the hottest summers on record” stated General Manager Todd Corbin. “It is up to us to continue to be as efficient as possible this summer; we never know when drought conditions may change.”
